January, just the word causes us to go….Brrrr….

January, just the word causes us to go….Brrrrr…..At this time of year we all long for the arrival of spring; sunshine, flowers, birds singing, warmer temperatures and NO SNOW. Come start the new year by refueling your spirit, kick back, relax and unwind in the beautiful lodge of Maranatha Bible & Missionary Conference. Imagine a whole weekend of no cooking, cleaning, or laundry, but instead filled with being pampered and able to do what you love; “quilt until you wilt” at the Living Threads 2018 Ladies Quilt Retreat. Oh, pure joy!

Your weekend will begin by being greeted by some handsome and strong gentlemen waiting to unload your sewing machine and suitcase as you drive under Maranatha’s covered entry. You will then begin 48 hours with the camaraderie of other quilt lovers just like you surrounded by God’s beautiful creation along Lake Michigan! Your experience will include two nights lodging, six meals, and wonderful fellowship with other sisters in Christ.

Check-in is Friday, January 26 from 4-5:00pm. Our first meal will be served at 6pm so until then enjoy settling into your beautiful room, setting up your sewing area, grab a cup of coffee/tea, chat with friends, and relax in the many gorgeous lounge areas at Maranatha. The retreat will kick off at dinner.
Below is a list of projects that will be “Quilting You Into Spring”. You will find pictures of each project on the back of this page. After receiving your registration we will send you a complete list of fabric requirements, quilting supplies, and personal items needed in plenty of time before the retreat. You may also bring your own project to work on if you prefer.

“QUILTING INTO SPRING” RETREAT PROJECTS

* GARDEN SPOOLS by Gail Pan. I fell in love with this beautiful table- runner the moment I saw it. Combining applique with piecing is my favorite look! This beauty reflects spring flowers blooming from the spools of thread. This pattern is a great way to use up some of your scraps. The size is: 20”x 44”.

* MINI STITCH by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co. This wallhanging is the perfect addition to any sewing room displaying six sewing machines surrounded by mini thread spools. Brighten it up with colorful spring colors or with warm earthy colors for more of a civil war look. The size is: 22-1/2”x 28-1/4”.

* SPRING IS IN THE AIR Isn’t it exciting when we start to see the birds migrating back after a long cold winter. We know “Spring Is In The Air” as we open our windows and listen to the birds once again sing. After seeing a simi-lar quilt at a local quilt show we were on a quest to try and make this a fun & contemporary quilt. Wanting to avoid paper piecing the birds together Dorothy was determined to figure a way to rotary cut and piece the birds, and that she did! We have titled this quilt “Spring Is In The Air”. The finished quilt measures: 50”x 65”.

* FLOWERS FOR NANA GIRL by Kim Brackett. You know spring is in the air when you see those first flower buds popping their heads out of the soil. What fun to brighten up any room in your house and always have a touch of spring with you when you create this fun “pansy” quilt. When you register for this project you will receive Kim’s book, “Scrap Basket Sensations” that includes patterns for 18 jelly roll friendly quilts all using 2-1/2” strips. There are two size options available: with outside border: 56-1/2”x 66-1/2”. Without the wide outside border but instead using a smaller border of background fabric: 45”x 54-1/2”. (You can always add more or less flowers to adjust the size of your quilt)

We hope you will come and join Living Threads as we offer this exciting winter retreat! For more information or to register call our office at 616-748-6505 or email: office@livingthreadsministry.org
